About half that area is degraded or in process of degradation. The problem reduces the capacity to support pastures and herd productivity, impairing, thus, cattle raising development in the area. To recover pastures producing capacity and improve cattle food quality, Embrapa Acre invested in the development of new grasses and leguminous plants planted in degraded areas. The main challenge researchers faced was finding varieties with a higher degree of adaptation to Amazon tropical climate and to lowland soils subject to flooding, prevailing in the area. Menos...
