The plant roots are used to manufacture flour or starch, which may be used to make cakes and cookies. In addition to nutritional content, arrowroot flour does not contain gluten. Ora-pro-nobis is used in Minas Gerais, usually in casseroles or sautéed. The vegetable is rich in proteins, nutrients rarely found in plant sources.
